For a little more than 30 years, the Poynter Institute has provided training for recent college graduates as they found their way from the classroom to the professional newsroom.

Our six-week summer fellowship has changed over time – in recent years to include a strong focus on multimedia skills. The benefits to these young journalists have been profound and we're proud of all they've accomplished. There are Pulitzer winners among their ranks, along with passionate practitioners of every craft from reporting and writing to design, photojournalism, graphics and all forms of multimedia.

Now, we're re-imagining the form, breadth and focus of the training that we'll provide to the new crop of journalists heading into the workforce in 2009 and beyond. The industry is in transformation and faces tough financial challenges. Both affect Poynter.

In the weeks ahead, we'll announce details about a whole range of new training opportunities for college students and recent graduates in place of the fellowship. We have a lot of innovative ideas in the works. Stay tuned.

Thanks for your continued interest in Poynter.
