A woman approaches a group of new shuffleboarders and tells them they are shooting incorrectly. With no introduction, Hall of Famer Mary Eldridge grabs the shuffleboard pole and shows them how to shoot. These unsuspecting players at the weekly St. Pete Shuffle have a champion in their midst, and they don’t even know. Mary Eldridge, a seven-time Shuffleboard Masters champion, uses the St. Pete Shuffle to introduce new — and usually younger — players to shuffleboard.

Recreational shuffleboarders and experts alike can find a match at St. Pete Shuffle every Friday night from 7 to 11. The courts and equipment are open to the public at the Mirror Lake Recreational Complex in St. Petersburg, Fla.
