- Bio
Elizabeth ("Eli") Nichols loves words. She loves words so much that it made her teeth itch when her editing professor called his class "werd nerds." She wants to be an editor at a metropolitan newspaper (small towns also make her teeth itch) as copy desk chief or as Washington bureau chief, then teach journalism at the college level. Eli graduated cum laude from Oklahoma State University with a degree in journalism and a double minor in political science and Spanish. At the OSU newspaper, the Daily O'Collegian, she covered politics, university administration and the student government association, and wrote for the features section. She was assistant managing editor and copy editor during her senior year. After Poynter, Eli will get 48 straight hours of sleep, go shopping and then intern at The Oklahoman.
