- Bio
Kara Phelps attended New College of Florida in Sarasota, where she was the general editor, managing editor and copy editor of the newspaper, The Catalyst. In summer 2006, she interned at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and was hired afterward as a freelance correspondent. Kara graduated in May 2008 with a B.A. in anthropology. Her undergraduate thesis involved two months of field work with the copy desk of a mid-sized newspaper. She has been a peer tutor and editor of the college literary magazine. Whatever the venue and whatever the format, she enjoys finding creative ways to share stories.
